Amma Theodora, a Saying…

Strive to enter by the narrow gate. As trees cannot bear fruit if they do not undergo winter storms and rains, so for us this age is a winter. We will be not able to inherit the Kingdom of Heaven other than through many afflictions and temptations.

Matthew 7:13: “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it.”
Luke 13:24: [And He said to them:] “strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able.”

Prayer for Forgiveness

(To be said at the close of the day)

O Lord our God,
if during this day I have sinned,
whether in word or deed or thought,
forgive me all,
for You are good and love mankind.
Grant me peaceful and undisturbed sleep,
and deliver me from all influence
and temptation of the evil one.
Raise me up again in proper time
that I may glorify You;
for You are blessed
with Your only-begotten Son
and Your all-holy Spirit,
now and ever, and forever,

(alternatively, one can end:  “… and ever, and unto the ages of ages, amen.”)

Directory Addition: California and Georgia

I’ve finally have gotten the chance to begin updating the Directory of Churches for the site, and will be making further updates in the weeks ahead.

A list of churches in California (along with two in Georgia) have been added to the Directory.

As always, f you have a church you would like listed, please let me know- leave a comment or get in touch at our Facebook page:

A Slight Change to Share Settings

When I had originally set up the site, I enabled share buttons for the posts… what I originally hadn’t realized was that the reader had to click on the title to open the post (outside of the home page) and would only then see the sharing options. Most folks had not realized this- and who would have thought to do such a thing?  In any case, I have corrected that, and enabled share options without having to jump through hoops to get to them. My apologies for the previous, unintended difficulty that the former layout may have presented!

O God, Save Me By Your Name…

(Psalm 53, as typically prayed during the sixth (noon) hour of the Office of Daily Prayer)

O God, save me by Your name;
by Your power uphold my cause.
O God, hear my prayer;
listen to the words of my mouth.

For the proud have risen against me,
ruthless foes seek my life.
They have no regard for God.

But I have God for my help.
The Lord upholds my life.
Let the evil recoil upon my foes;
You who are faithful, destroy them.

I will sacrifice to You with willing heart
and praise Your name for it is good;
for You have rescued me from all distress
and my eyes have seen the downfall of my foes.
